A very strong southwest wind and blowing sand didn't deter surf anglers on Assateague in the ORV zone this morning. Again the main attraction were bluefish in the 12" -18" range. They were biting mainly on cut bait and mullet. Also snagged and bagged was a12" grey trout that hit on mullet as well. Of course the usual skate and dogfish were also around hitting on just about anything. Pictured is Mike C of NC with the first blue of the day. Mike went on to catch about 8 more, 4 of which were eating size. And what about the green snake that wandered onto the beach. Let's hope it's not an endangered species%21

In the bay the action was slowed due to the winds. The best bay fishing came from the Assateague Channel where Terry Gilbert from PA managed 1 keeper flounder and a half dozen trout.

I'm getting married in two weeks and am going to have Mrs. Lynn Bock write the fishing reports while I'm away she has been the female angler of the year for the Eastern Shore Angler's Club of Virginia. She is very knowledgable in many types of fishing and is sure to do a great job.
