Early morning surf anglers on Assateague in the ORV zone found conditions rough but the fishing action pretty good. A strong easterly wind brought big rollers, a strong undertoe, an ocean mist and biting bluefish. For a third day, blues in the 12" - 18" range were hitting on mullet rigs with 6 oz weights to hold bottom. Also biting on mullet for the third day was an occasional kingfish. Rick V had a busy morning landing 7 keeper size blues and a king. Mr. Tony and Chuck also landed a few blues using mullet and cut bait. I got a chance to go out tonight with Bil G. and Timmy from MD we had a good time. We caught a few dogfish and skates most effective bait was cut spot. There were also a few other anglers the winds picked upa little and we were using sputniks to hold. Some night tips bring a lantern out there with you, also glow sticks to attach to the tip of your rods this will make your night expedition a lot more enjoyable. Overnight fishing permits are available for FREE at the Toms Cove Visitor's Center the building on stiltz on the right before you get to the beach.
