Chincoteague has seen a busy holiday weekend with the Oyster Festival and the Summerlike weather. In the surf the blues are still around in numbers hold your rod for increase catch rate. We have also seen a few short stripers being caught off the surf as the water temperatures continue to get cooler the striper fishery will be getting better. There has been a few keeper flounder caught off the surf, in the Fall is when we catch the most flounder surf fishing as they are heading out to deeper water. Backbay fishing flounder are beaing caught along with bluefish and some striped bass which have been hitting mostly nights. Come on in for the largest selection of soft plastics swimshads and plenty of hard body models too. We have in fresh mullet and bunker!
We have had some beautiful weather here on the island, you can not beat the nature of Chincoteague Island.
Bob Ferenschak, Joe Shields, and Randy Conrad from NoVA caught tons of fish, fishing with Capt. John Chenault including black seabass, flounder, bluefish, and tautog. They had a great time fishing the wrecks with plenty of steady action.
Vince Jeff and Rolo had a good day fishing on the fishface. Six keeper tautog and triggers fishing on the wrecks.
Capt. Bob and first Mate Henry “Mute” needed a little DinDin after the Oyster Festival. Capt. Steve’s Bait and Tackle set them up with all the good bait and rigs. The biggest flounder was 24’’ and weighed 5 pounds.
