There were 2 black drum taken off the surf yesterday.  Still plenty of skates and a few sharks too.  In the back bay the flounder fishing has been spotty.  A few boats had catches up to 7-8 keepers others picked away  with a few too.  Still a bit grassy but these warmer water temps look to have the bite being more consistant.  The key to catching flounder has been look for the clean water, flounder are aggressive feeders, ambushing smaller fish and shimp from concealment on the bottom.  They seldom forage to find food, preferring to take advantage of their natural camouflage and expoit opportunities that come to them.  Thus it is important to keep your bait moving.  This can be accomplished through drifting with the wind or current, trolling, or casting and retrieving.  Any type of live or dead baitfish or shrimp, gulp may be used with rigs of jigs.  You can also use strip baits such as squid, or larger smelts.  For the flounder fishing our selection is huge was a vast array of custom hooks and rigs, try out different combinations of colors, blades, and skirts until you find out what is working best for you.  Gulps tipped with silversides and or minnows have been doing well.  Our newest nickel 2/0 hooks with the colored spinner blades are a Capt. Steve's exclusive and have been producing a few flat fish.  We are looking forward to another nice week and the action to pick up.  Feel free to send in reports pictures etc to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

We just got in our top shelf Shimano Rods and some Penn Carnage jigging rods stop in for the bext selection of fishing tackle and apparel on the island...

IMG_2432-750 Gene Brite from Cambridge Md. proved that you put in your time you will be rewarded as he landed a nice 30'' black drum off the Assateague Surf using a modified fishfinder rig. The conditions the past few days have been fishy with W-SW winds blowing, the grass was bad in spots and non existent in others. Remember the tides impact grass and moving spots can change your fishing luck at times. There are some nice holes and structure which showed at low tide.

4142012mikephilly-750 Capt. Mike with the Chincoteague View had a good trip Saturday AM; Mike from Philly’s wife Linda(Mike and son John are not pictured) with the flounder that they caught Saturday along with John from Reading. Linda limited out today for which Mike & John are grateful. John from Reading gave his fish to Mike, too so they’ll be eating flounder for dinner more than once. It’s great what some nice weather will do to improve the bite!

The guys from Point Pleasant, NJ (the other Jersey Shore) came to the Island to have a Bachelor's Party for two of their friends. They decided a fishing trip with Captain Charlie of Island Queen Charters and Marshland Charters with Captain Matt a good way to celebrate the last few days of their good friends being single.  They only had three keepers with some throwbacks being close to the 16.5" before the winds kicked in.
