Leon Rose with a nice rock from his secret spot.

We are still awaiting the big schools of the migrating rockfish to show up in more numbers.  There have been a few rockfish showing up with sealice which are ocean run fish.  The bridges have been productive with chartruce colors working best at this time.  There are not to many people fishing the surf right now.  Pat M. from NY said be careful on the ORV zone as some of the sand has been soft.  We have been experiencing a lot of wind here lately, make sure to have some heavier weights and sputniks for the Fall fishing.  Another tip is to throw directly into the wind as this allows your weight to sink into the sand giving you better holding.  The time of year is also known for hunting, there is sika deer hunting at the Chincoteague Natl. Wildlife Refuge.  If you want to go for waterfowl hunting there are a few local captains that we recommend.  There have been a few flounder and kingfish being caught at the surf here lately.  Thats the report for now.  If you have any information you think useful e-mail me at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
