Look how beautiful it is outside 5:38pm today. The Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge will be open at 6 AM Tomorrow Morning. It looks to be a great Labor Day weekend!
Update at 1:02 pm. the winds have died down since this morning. There is a slight rain still around too. We are starting to see more people coming for the weekend other than that business as usual. We had a good lunch clam fritters and fresh vegetables from the garden. Mr. Fisher even did his best Abe Lincoln impression. Around 5 I will have what time the CNWR will be open again!
We are still open and looking forward to a good weekend. Even the big elephant and giraffes are still standing strong across the street!
7:40 AM we still have some high winds around but overall it is not too bad. Gunter Frimmel even made it on the news this morning. It looks the the Cape Cod area will be the next place to be hit. I hope the storm deminishes more its down to a category 2 now. I'll keep updating throughout the day if you have plans to come here for the weekend
Look slike the hurricane is traveling North/Northeast at 18 mph we are in the minor to moderate beach erosion zone. The winds are picked up pretty good, I decided not to run inside. Cape Cod looks to be the next place which Earl is looking to do damage according to the weather channel. I'll have another update in a few hours, the winds are kicking out there and we have a light rain at the moment. Thats the report as of 05:40 AM.

We are awaiting the effects from Earl it has been some beautiful weather here lately. The storm has slowed down a bit and headed west. We are not out of the woods yet but some good news is that low tide will be in the morning which will help with keeping the water down. The Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge is closed which started at Due to the upcoming hurricane the following closures will be in effect OSV Zone is closed Refuge will close at 8pm on Thursday, September 2, 2010. The refuge will reopen when deemed safe for public access which I will post as soon as the information becomes available. We are awaiting to see what will happen i'll update tomorrow afternoon to keep everyone informed!
