Stop on in we are glad to have the island back to normal after some bad weather. We have in live minnows, bloodowrms, and the largest selection of frozen baits and fishing tackle around. We open at 7am everyday and are here to help you out. The past couple of days have been really nice around here a lot of people are sneaking in a quick vacations before schools start.
Everything looks great and back to normal, there was some extra sand which built up on the beach a small cut through which will most likely fill in soon. The parking lots had 3 foot of sand on them from Hurricane Irene. Chincoteague is truely a blessed place and we thank mother nature for sparing us of what could have been disasterous. Overall the damage was minimal and we thank all our Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge employees for getting the CNWR for working in such a fast manner to let everyone back onto our prestine beach. Tomorrow Wedesday August 31 there will be a shuttle running from 10am until 5 pm tentatively from The Wildlife Loop Parking Lot and the Herb Bateman Center Parking Lot to the Beach this will give you another oppertunity to head to the beach without having to make the 1.5 mile treck by foot or bike. The workers of the CNWR have been working hard to get everything open back to normal; the beach parking lots look to be open from 400-600 spaces this Friday. I will keep you more informed as more information becomes available.

Here is the start of my trip over to Assateague everything looks back to normal except some debris from the marshgrass.
Southside of Assateague Cridge water was slick calm still a little dirty but some signs of cleaning up and also baitfish jumping on the surface.
The woldlife loop parking lot as busy as I've ever seen it the parking lots were closed today so you either hiked or biked it to the beach 1.5 miles, a good thing was that there were plenty of Ponies out making an appearance and making a lot of people happy.
The ponies stole the show at the nature loop providing plenty of photo opportunities.
Nature loop action shot.
Almost there the entrance to the beach off the Wildlife Loop.
