Mrs. Diane with a 25.5 inch red drum caught on a 2/0 clouser silver and white she tied caught off the Assateague Surf. Mrs. Diane is one of the best anglers that I know she is very persistant and loves to fish here on the beach in Chincoteague.
Capt. Joe Huffman of "Fish and Fun" Charter went on a fun trip today with Drew Cooper and limited out on tau tog. They only kept tog 20 inches and over and the biggest one weighed in at 7.25 pounds. along with the tog were triggerfish and seabass(that were of course released). They also had a tagged triggerfish. Capt. Joe has been limiting out on tog frequently he said come on down for a charter as the wreck fishing is good right now.
Shane Whealton with a nice speck caught in the bay using artificials.
Another nice day here on the island as the beach access is open all the way to the point now. The beach has changed due to the noreasters we have had. There is some very nice structure on the surf. In the backbay we have had more striped bass come in. We have in fresh bait and open at 7am stop on in for all your fishing needs...
The Assateague Parking Lots and ORV zone are now OPEN!
Dan and Steve Bender from Ohio limited out on rockfish fishing with Capt. Gerry Ryan on the bayside fishing out of Saxis. Congrats on the great catches!
Baltimore Mike caught this rockfish on fishbites bloodworms fishing the Saxis pier.
We have in fresh bunker.
The Assateague Parking Lots and ORV zone are now OPEN!
Captain Chuck, Charlie, and Jake went out this afternoon on the Fin Crazy and limited out on Tog in three hours at the inshore wrecks . Capt Chuck also caught a nice Triggerfish. It was a beautiful day out there!!!! We also had several tog under the size limit a few Sea Bass and watched a lot of small blues chase our rigs to the top!
Capt. Mike Barnes aboard the Screamin Seaman have never been down this late to see frost on the ground nor when the mosquitoes were gone. Here's a summery of conditions from fishing the inshore wrecks yesterday. Along with Mike were Mark Swift and Tim Willard. The seas were long 10 sec. rollers with about a 3' chop in the am. Water quality was clear even with the nasty Nor Easters the few days before. It took them a while to find the right structure that were holding Tog. Finally around 11:00 am they found what we were looking for.We had our limit of tog in 2 and a half hours. We then moved around the structure catching a few more and releasing them to be caught another day. We also had 4 triggers in the mix which was surprising to me being the water temp was 58 degrees. We will see more of the Screamin Seaman as those big striped bass come down the coast.
In the back bay after the blow there are some keeper flounder being crought in. The rockfish aka( Striped Bass) are being caught with the biggest one so far being 41 inches caught on a swimshad. We have a large variety of artificials which work well for the stripers. Parking Lots 1 and 2 are open and 3 is being worked on right now. Off the beach there are sharks and skates and a few bluefish are being caught. We have in fresh bunker

I'm just getting back from a 3 day trip Jes and I took to NYC to visit family and to get away for a bit. We had a good time although the double Noreaster was bad on the whole Northeast Coast. The parking lots at the CNWR are being fixed right now a few are open but the ORZ zone remains closed. Tomorrow starts the begining of archery at the Chicnotaegue natl. Wildlife Refuge it is a lottery pick for the deer there. As for the fishing the positive about all this weather is that it should be bringing the fish down south faster the cooler weather also helps with the migration of the striped bass. We are still open 7 days a week and at 7am.
Bill Moore from Pa with a 19.25" Flounder fishing on the Island Queen on Sunday 10/11. Also on board was his wife Donna and two grandchildren. We had 12 throwbacks with some over 17". Flounder fishing is still good and as long as the wind and rain are low the Island Queen will be fishing for them until the end of October. Captain Charlie will be doing striper trips this fall so keep tuned in to Steve's website for the reports and come on down and get in on the Fall and Winter Striped Bass!
