Here is Capt. Tom and Jack hanging out in front of the shop. Its been some bad weather here lately but the cooler temps havebrought in some more stripers. You know its Fall Fishing season as the beach carts are always in front of the shop this time of year. There were a few striped bass caught off the surf today using cut bait. we have in fresh bunker brought in tonight. Happy Halloween as we got to give out plenty of candy. We have in live minnows and live eels. There are a few people coming in and getting some new line put on the the Fall run of the season, we have a professional lind winding machine that can take off and put line on a reel in no time. Come by for all your fishing needs. Dress in layers this time of year as the weather can change quickly. We stock boots, hip waders, and chest waders along with fishing gloves too. Capt. Tommy Daisey showing off a HUGE 44" Striper caught using swim baits fishing the Chincoteague Channel the biggest striper of the season so far. This measured in at 43 inches 26.5 pounds caught in the Chincoteague Bay using artificials.
For anyone waiting for the BIG STRIPER to show up I think that Capt. Tommy Daisey and Elton proved that there are some hogs around. Tommy Daisey is pictured below w/ a 44" Striper caught using swim baits near the Inlet. Stanley also had a big one hooked up, but had his hook straightened straight out. The temperatures look to be dropping the next few days which should help drop this water temperature down and bring plenty of hungry fish in. We have FRESH BUNKER and Cobb Mullet. A couple short Striper and a lot of Bluefish still being caught off the surf. I hear that the Tog fishing at the wrecks has been great as of late also. Don't forget to add Capt. Steve's to your list of stops on the Trick or Treating Circuit this weekend. *Tight Lines
Chuck, Renee and Drew took Preston and Leslie out to the wrecks for some tog fishing on Sunday. They ended up with 9 tog and 2 nice size triggers and ALOT of TOAD FISH. (oyster crackers)

Good time with good friends hitting the beach is always fun. We had a good day catching plenty of bluefish and also a striper caught on a swimbait.

Here is a schoolie striper taken off the surf using a shimshad, cast out and retrieve fairly slow to entice the stripers to take your bait. The fish was taken in the first breaker proving you dont always have to bomb it out to catch fish. Fish deep holes and vary your fishing methods for improved catching.

Berry and Berry Margeglia from Solomons Island, Md. did well catching tautog, porgys, triggers, bluefish, and seabass (they are out of season until the begining of next month) fishing the wrecks off Chincoteag ue.

In the backbays we've seen a few more flounder being caught also with some stripers too. At Memorial Park anglers are catching some pufferfish, seabass, searobins, and some snapper blues. In the surf it has slowed down except for the bluefish have been running good at times. We had one angler catch over 26 yesterday afternoon after the change of the tide. Finally the winds have slowed down and we can get back to fishing. We are still open 7 days a week and I'll have our new tournament shirts available for pre-order by WednesdayOct. 26. Gator Gunter is still at it he had 3 stripers 21,24, and 27 inches almost keeper size range throwing atrtificials under the bridges coming onto Chincoteague.

It has been blowing pretty good here the alst few days the weekend forcast looks to be getting better. Anglers have been having a tough time with the weeds, when it did clear up there were come bluefish and kingfish caugth off thes urf along witha few skates and dogfish too. Still waiting for the numbers of stripers to show up on the Oceanfront this cool blast should help move them south.
Apparently birds do not have to follow directions.
The Assateague Lighthouse has been open during the week 9-3:30 you can climb to the top $3 children $5 adults.
We are getting geared up for the upcoming striper tournament. November 18-20th it's a free surf tournament just sign up at Capt. Steve's before you go fishing. Plenty of prizes to be given away.
