They have arrived our tournaemnt sweatshirts and T-shirt I got a chance to ride across the bay (Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel) and pick them up from Virginia Beach with Mike and Sheldon their first trip across the CBBT. It was a good trip but we are glad to be back home, gearing up for the tournament. We are stocked up with plenty of fishing tackle, baits, rigs, etc. We are awaiting the arrival on Chief Don from NJ as we had a few friends in tonight talking fishing strategies. There are always plenty of stories being told here at the shop. There have been a few more keepers brought in the last couple of days with still plenty of shorts too keeping it interesting. Skates and dogfish have also been picking baits so remember to change baits regularly. If you are starting to get some smaller bites there have been some ling (spotted hake) also showing up. We are looking forward to another great tourney! Tight Lines!
The Annual Striper Surf Tournament is FREE just sign up before you go fishing. The sign up sheet is located at the front register @ Capt. Steve's.
Here are some of our new custom High Low rigs tied with 8/0 circle hooks, we also have them in the 5/0 size. today was one of the better surf days in the past few days. Jeff Eigel from Baltimore had 5 stripers (18-24'') all caught this afternoon all caught with our custom 8/0 east coast high low rigs tipped with bunker. The beauty of these rigs is they cast well and the circle hooks are great for lip hooking the fish and are easier for catch and release too. Most people have been using 5-6 ounce hurricane sinkers and sputniks in the continued wind. We are also getting gered up for the upcoming tournament I'll be picking up the tournament shirts on Thursday. We look forward to a great week of comradery with plenty of good stories and memories being made. Continue to send in fishing repoprts and stop by the shop for all your fishing needs. Tight Lines!

Swimshads are still bait of shoice around the structure. Off the beach we have been getting in fresh bunker consistently which has been the best bait. Our Annual Surf Striper Tournament. Mr. Bill "Bill the Rig" passed away Monday November 1, he was a great person and a close family friend. May you rest in peace and we know you are fishing now and making rigs too.
The past coule of days here have been a tough with the passing of a good friend. Here is a poem with was read at his viewing. It is called the Dash by Linda Ellis.
I read of a man who stood to speak at the funeral of a friend.
He referred to the dates on his Tombstone - from the beginning - to the end.
He noted that first came the date of his birth and spoke of the following date with tears,
but he said that what mattered most of all was the dash between the years.
For that dash represents all the time that he spent alive on earth -
and now, only those who loved him know what that little line is worth.
For it matters not how much we own, the cars - the house - the cash.
What matters is how we live and love and how we spend our dash.
So think about this long and hard – are there things you’d like to change?
For you never know how much time is left, that can still be rearranged.
If we could just slow down enough to consider what’s true and real –
and always try to understand the way other people feel.
And be less quick to anger and show appreciation more –
and love the people in our lives, like we’ve never loved before.
If we treat each other with respect and more often wear a smile,
remembering that this special dash might only last a little while.
So when your eulogy is read,
with your life actions to rehash
Would you be proud of the things they say –
about how you spent your dash.
