Dusky-shark-750 The shark bite is still on in Queen's Sound, although most fisherman over there may be surprised to find what's actually in their flounder/croaker grounds. We have caught over 10 in the past week and this is the second smallest. Dusky sharks. All released as they are protected species. Note Zac Majerus's fine fishing apparel.

Fishing continues to be productive with lots of action here around Chincoteague. The charters have been doing well putting anglers on the fish with alot of croaker catches a few bigger ones are moving in too.  Flounder action has been really good especially for the time of year we are in.  PA Gary who usually can be found putting a dent in the striper and drum population caught 3 flounder fishing from land today.  Sharks are also in the backbay, as for Sharks it is sharkweek on the Discovery Channel.  It has been some great programming so check it out if you get time.

he flounder bite continues to be one of the best I can remember for this time of the year. We've had several double headers and a few really hungry ones that had both hooks inside their mouths. The kings are in the ocean close to the inlet and the croakers are inside and spread out. Most of them are small but we're seeing a few more that are a little bigger than earlier. Hopefully that means the jumbos are on their way.   The bite continues to do well off the surf with spot and kingfish too.

2010-07-31 17.12.41-750 Ryan and Kelly with their first caught surf spot.
Plenty of spot of the surf as I took Ryan from Mueller's Ice Cream and Kelly out on the beach yesterday about every cast we hooked fish.  Kelly also caught a dogfish and skate and ray.  The weather was beautiful fishing the beach.  Inside still croaker and kingfish around the inlet.  Flounder has been good considering the time of the year in the bay.  Offshore wrecks also have been productive on flounder too.  Offshore action a few yellowfin were caught yesterday and mahi-mahi too.

Chincoteague Pony Penning 2010!

Its been a busy week around here with the Pony Swim and Auction that has just taken place with the highest auctioned was the Charity Buy back pony was auctioned this morning by the Chincoteague Volunteer Fire Co. it sold for $5,800 going to Hospice and Pallative Care of the Eastern Shore a great organization.  Here on the island people are here for each other.  Please go to the carnival and support the Fire Company.  Tomorrow morning is the swimback which the Ponies go the opposite direction back to Assateague.  Everyone seems to be having a great time.  It has beena  bit windy here lately so I do not have much of an offshore report.  There ahve been some cobia sighting around wrecks and bouyes.  Smaller croaker are still dominating the inside action.  Spot, kingfish, sharks, skates, and rays off the surf.  Still the most popular rigs are the EC surfballs simple easy and effective.  Thats the report for now  Tight Lines!
