Today started out promising as Mr. Tony brought in a 17.5 inch red drum. The wind was blowing pretty swift as anglers used 4-5 ounces of lead on the beach. In the afternoon the winds calmed down to nothing as anglers had only mild action. Aa few blues were caught in the 12-15 inch range on cut bait and squid. Below are some pictures of the 36 inch rockfish caught yesterday. Jim Stafford from New Paltz, NY caught this nice 36 inch rockfish fishing off the surf yesterday on his brand new penn 750Sm and 7/0 modified ff rig.

Today was a very cold day. Off the surf there was a 34 inch rockfish caught according to ranger Doug. Others caught a lot of skate, including me. I got a chance to go out tonight for a few hours. I also tried my new penn 525, mag this reel is one of the best casting reels out on the market.
The Penn 525 MAG was designed for world record long distance casting. The magnetic control lets you adjust the casting speed of the spool, and the spool is totally free from the spindle when casting. 5 aircraft quality ball bearings and a one way infinite anti reverse bearing are sealed against water, dust, etc. The reel also has an one-piece graphite frame and a gold anodized spool.
Bearings 5BB %2B 1RB
Gear Ratios 6:1
Capacity 275/15
Weight 18 OZ
When going out to the beach now remember to take layers of clothes as this time of year it can get cold in a hurry. Tonights dinner at Capt. Steves was some skates caught earlier by Tom V. and friends. To clean the skates you fillet out their wings. He fried some and blackened some. Gary Mason from Mason's Oil Company said they taste damn good and like scallops. Other that that we got in some more fresh bunker tonight good luck out there...Jimmy

Early this morning the weather was Spring like until 9 am. Then it continued to get colder throughout the day. This morning surf fisherman caught a lot of fish although most were sharks, skates, and blues. Mr. Roland caught a nice red drum release at 32 inches. Cut bait worked well again off the beach. We have fresh bunker, live eels, and minnows just to keep everyone updated. That is about it for tonight a lot of people are out as the moon is almost full.
Another successful day off the surf. Mr. Tony did well again with 17.5 inch rockfish, and a17.5 inach red drum, to follow bye 26 inch red drum plus a 19 inch rockfish by Lucky Chucky. Leo O. also caught three 17 inch red drum. A few anglers caught red drum that were over the legal limit. Seems like the fishing is getting better...In the back bay Capt. Brett caught some nice tautag fishing the inshore wrecks; he is pictured below with his 5 pound tog%21%21

Off the surf it was another nice day out there, Mr. Tony caught a 19 inch speckle trout pictured below. He was fishing with Lucky Chucky they ended up with 4 drum all released and one short striper. Bob Kassner from Chincoteague had his best day of the year so far with 3 puppy drum between 19-22 inches using cut bunker. The keeper stripers are starting to show up in the bay which is another good sign. I'll keep it short tonight gotta go hand out candy...
