Pat M. from NY caught a short red drum and Mr. Tony had a short rockfish as the bite was tricky today. I went for a few hours and missed the two hits I had one slacked my line as I was busy getting situated, the other just did not take the bait all the way. This time of year you have to be alert and if you see slack in your line reel in as fast as you can.

The Captain Steve's gang welcomes back Ted Bassetti in town with a seabass dinner. This time of year a lot of friends come back for the annual rockfish tournament.

Captaint Steves Sweatshirts are in they are Lee Heavyweight Authentic Apparel.

Off the surf today a few more short rockfish were caught again. Sharks accompanied skates earlier in the day as some smaller blues were caught this evening. Inshore there were some more tautog caught the biggest being 18 inches. Last night I went on a night trip and caught none had a few taps but no fish. I did see 8 rockfish caught all together some on swimbaits and some on live eels. Thats it for tonight, our bunker supply is looking good. ttyl Jimmy

Tonight it is beautiful the skies are lit up with the full moon and I am going to go after the rockfish. Last night a few of my friends went out and hooked up with a few big rockfish. Off the surf today Pat Marallo from NY caught a 26 inch short that was the best I've heard of today. Don Z. caught a nice size stargazer. Tom V. went out tonight had a lot of bites and came back with 1 bluefish around 10 inches. Capt. Chris Walker on the Krista Caleb saw some dogfish and also some rockfish. He said the fish usually run together as there is a change occuring in the water temperature. The warmer water temperature creatures are leaving as the bigger fishing are moving in...ttyl, Jimmy V.

On a fishing charter with Capt. Brett on Driftaway Charters today Jay Beatty %28right%29 caught a 5 %C2%BC lb toutog and Jim Leisy %28left%29 with his 4 lb toutog.

Surf anglers were hard pressed today as there was not much going on. It was just one of those days that you could not buy a bite. I had an old fisherman who said the fish bite more at night with this full moon. Tomorrow the wind is going to change so fishing should pick up. Night fishing went well as some keepers were brough home using swim baits. The crabs are still in although not as fat, they still provide a good meal. Come home E.T. Aka Rick Volz surf reporter will be back late tuesday.
On the wrecks Steve Miller and Allen Mitchell aboard the %E2%80%9CHOLD ON%E2%80%9D caught 3 keeps red drum 26'' a dozen tautog and a dozen seabass ranging from 3-5 pounds on a productive trip.
Just a reminder the tournament starts this Friday at 7:00 am all you need to do is sign in at Capt. Steve's.
