fishing reports

The surf was pretty good this morning from 6 am and
slacked off a bit around 1 pm. One angler from
Pocomoke had around 7 kingfish and 4 trout. A few blues also showed up in the late morning taken on finger mullet. In offshore action the "Testudu" a 28' Bertram had 3 nice tuna a 54 inch 130 pounder, a 48 incher, and a 46 inch all bluefin caught on ballyhoo. Inshore slowed down a bit, there are netters in the bay. Croaker were still the most common caught fish and even a few flounder were taken although most of them were small. We have gotten in "Shipwrecks of Virginia" and "Shipwrecks of Maryland and Deleware" these books will give you all the information and history of a lot of wrecks around here.

Today was a rainy day overcast day but people were still fishing. Greg Orris and family from PA had a good day with Capt. Fred Gilman on %5Burl%3Dhttp://www.chincoteague.com/reeltime/%5DREEL TIME%5B/url%5D with 4 yellowfin tuna 2 weighing in over 40 pounds. The seas were rough 6-8 foot waves and ugly but the fish were biting regardless in the bad weather their picture is posted below. Off the surf this morning there was a lot of skate caught with an occasional kingfish and croaker mixed in. Rick finally managed to get out to the beach again for a few hours this afternoon. Rick was catching a few spot, croaker and skate, had 2 decent sized kingfish on fishbites right at high tide. Threw out some mullet with negative results. Didn't look like anyone else out there was doing much. In the bay Stephanos on the Fishaholoic had 25 flounder only 3 keepers. Once again the croaker were out but not to many people went out due to the weather.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY WERNER

Fred Gilman had another successful charter yesterday with 8 bluefin tuna ranging from 45-50 pounds he said the dolphin were jumping at the baits but wouldn't take the hook.Tim Marrow from Mechanicsburg PA caught a 24 %C2%BE inch 5 lb 11 ounces off the pier at Inlet View using minnows. He caught this right before the storm tonight. Capt. Brett with Driftaway charters had 61 kingfish and 6 croaker fishing the inlet. Most everyone else that came in had a good day with croaker and even a few flounder. There was a 17 incher caught off of the rocks at Queen Sound bridge.

Stephen Mack had a 130 pound bluefin tuna and John E. PattonIII had a 71 yellowfin tuna fishing aboard October Moon at the 40 Fathom Lumps.

Chris Hanse had a good day out there using the Berkely Gulp swimbaits tandem rig on 1/2 ounce heads he outcaught everyone in his boat. At the beach was slower than the past few days but there were some kingfish, spot, and perch hitting. Offshore Greg Holland said the bite went pretty well today. %5Bb%5DNew %5B/b%5Dtoday we have our Capt. Steve's logo tanktops and sleeveless t's in a variety of colors...
