Today was another bautiful Springlike day out there, although it's late November as anglers were even in shorts and t-shirts. The surf was productive again as Rick Ashman caught 2 throwback rockfish and a citation bluefish 37.5 inches. Doug from WV also get a nice blue 28 inches long. The surf was pretty flat as most aglers were using 5 ounce pyramids to hold. Rob D. and Joan. Karter each had 2 rockfish a piece the 3 shorts were 17.5 to 23.5 were tagged and realeased. Joan caught her first keeper rock being 29 inches weighing 8lb4oz. A nice healthy fish. The beach has also changed with all this weather flattening out some of the beach, and making some %E2%80%9Cnew%E2%80%9D holes that look really fishy.
Capt. Brett with Driftaway Charters brought in another rockfish today weighing 17 pounds fishing the inlet. All together he had 7 this morning.
Pictured below is Shane %E2%80%9C1 eel %E2%80%9D Whealton missing is Paul K. they had another good night with 3 fish %2834, 38, and 39 inches%29
We just got in some fresh bunker tonihgt and live eels are on their way they will be here tomorrow afternoon. It's now looking better every day good luck...

Today was another spring-like, beautiful day on Assateague beach and the fishing wasn't bad either. Although the rockfish landed today were all just under legal size, there was enough action going on to keep everyone interested. Lucky Chucky reeled in 2 rock, one of which was just under legal while Leo landed one 20 some incher and Con also caught and released a short. Ranger Doug, who made his surf angling debut today, had a great day catching his first rockfish. The rock, that measured just over 26 inches, was released. Just before sunset, Rick V was surprised when he landed a 26 inch bluefish.
Anglers were treated to a visit today from Tom of Captain Steve's Bait and Tackle and his friend Doug. Unfortunately Tom and Doug were skunked today but did enjoy their leisure time on the beach with friends.
CHUCK with one of his 2 shorts caught today
CON with his rock
LEO finally has proof of a rock he caught
RICK with a nice blue, a few bigger blues are starting to show up..
Once again good luck and tight lines
Also today Capt. Brett did well fishing the inlet he had 5 rockfish all ranging between 26-29.5 inches. One keeper he said the action was steady out there and you could see bunker jumping out of the water.
Capt. Charlie Birch also recently got his website up here is the %5Blink%5Dhttp://www.chincoteaguecruises.com/%5B/link%5D

Today the ORV Zone was reopened by CNWR officials, making the south end of ths island accessible. Anglers who ventured down the beach in their vehicles found some major changes in the contour of the shoreline. Much of the island just north of the Coast Guard station was flattened by the most recent storm washing away some of the sand dunes that had existed. The narrow pathway just north the Station where the dunes jut out to the sea has become impossible to negotiate at high tide and difficult at other times.
It seemed that most anglers, of which there were very few, fished the area adjacent to the parking lots this morning and this afternoon. Fishing was relatively slow but a couple rockfish were hauled in. Con of MD brought in a 15" baby rock and a shark that he managed to catch by the tail. Rick V had several hits and landed and released a 26" rock caught on chunked bunker.
Rumor has it that ranger Doug is going to make his surf fishing debut tomorrow.
Good luck everyone :%29
Shane and Paul did well using eels with a 38 inch and 42 inch rock. Nice Job%21

It was a beautiful day on Assateague's south beach with a mild northeast wind, moderate surf and sunny skies. The ORV Zone remained closed but that didn't deter surf anglers who trekked out to the beach carrying poles or wheeling their gear carts. The morning started out with some action when Rick A reeled in a 20 inch rock. Rick later caught another 20 some incher. Both fish were released. Fishing near Rick, Don landed a 26 1/2 inch rockfish that had a red plastic numbered tag. The tag was taken and the fish released. Leo O, not to be skunked again, followed up with a 24 inch rock. It was Leo's first rockfish from the surf. Congratulations Leo. Shortly afterward, Maria using Leo's pole got her first surf fishing lesson from the Over the Dune Gang while friend Steve looked on.
The action today was better than it had been for the last couple weeks. We are hoping it is a sign of good things to come.
Today we had some family friends from MD visiting they are pictured below riding a pony
The bottom 2 pictures are taken from the refuge. Ponies come a lot closer to the cars this time of year and the birds are everywhere

Goodmorning I am running a little late. Last night Jessica and I returned home late so I got a late start this morning.
The parking lots and ORV area remained closed Saturday creating an inconvenience for surf anglers. The beach cleanup seems to be coming along pretty good and in spite of the closure; there were quite a few people out trying their luck. A few fish were caught on this beautiful Saturday morning on Assateague's south beach including a 32%E2%80%9D bluefish and an 18%E2%80%9D red drum landed by an MD angler. Rick V caught and released a 19%E2%80%9D rockfish and a 16%E2%80%9D red drum. The highlight of the morning however was Lucky Chucky%E2%80%99s logfish. Chuck said it put up quite a fight. The storm has uncovered and blown in some unusual things.
Here are some pictures from the yesterday.
Lucky Chucky's Log he was worn out after this fight
Some beach tree stumps
Roger Heck landed this 41 inch 25 pound rockfish off the surf
