Pat M in disguise
The rough winds today discouraged a lot of anglers from going out there but you have to put up with the elements to catch the fish sometimes. Pittsburg Rick managed a skate as it was pretty sloe this morning. This afternoon and tonight the surf fishing picked up as Pat M. caught 3 rockfish %28 he released 2%29 and had a lot of good bites. Remember to bundle up out there as the fish are starting to show. It was also the first day of deer hunting on the Refuge with firearms 45 were taken today so dont be alarmed if your hear some shooting.
In the bay Shane Whealton caught 2 fat ones at 39'' and 44" which ties his biggest rock. The biggest one weighed in at 35 pounds.
Gary Fox also did well catching a 37 inch rock weighing 22 pounds.

Numerous anglers hit the surf today on the south beach and many were disappointed at the result. Fishing was slow again even with cleaner water and a northeast wind. Steve Strauss from Arlington, Va had a good day with 2 blues one released. Both were near 30 inches and the one was weighed in at 9 pounds. There was a lot of action on all on cut bunker.
Joe B. did land a big blue near the parking lots and lost another on his second rig as they hit both his rods at the same time. It is nice to see these big blues back it has been a few years since we have caught them off the beach.
Rick V. fished an area where sharks were feeding and in about 2 hours landed 7 dogfish and a couple skates. Better luck tomorrow.
Capt Brett on the %5Blink%3Dhttp://www.geocities.com/driftawaycharters/index.html%5DDRIFTAWAY%5B/link%5Dchartercaught this 29 inch rock fishing the inlet this morning.

80 lb monofilament leader kept this bluefish on the line
The northwest wind tore up the surf today leaving a very low - low tide, really dirty water and fairly poor fishing conditions. Other than Buck, who landed 2 short rockfish and Rick V who took a 30 inch bluefish, about all that anglers caught were dogfish and skates. It is hoped that tomorrows northeast wind will clean up the water and bring in some big rockfish.
This years Christmas Parade went well. Everyone had a good time.

Today off the surf the winds were brutal. Even with the tough winds there was a decent bite. Rob D. had 2 throwback rockfish that he tagged and released. Lucky Chucky brought in a 23.5 inch rockfish which he released. He said to watch the gill plates of the rock as he got his finger cut up releasing the fish into the ocean at the South Beach. %E2%80%9CPittsburg%E2%80%9D Rick Ashman also had 5 throwback rockfish all around 24 inches. We now have 6oz sputniks back in always have a few in your box to fish the rough surf. Good Luck and Tight Lines

The last day of November brought us yet another beautiful springlike day on Assateague beach with considerable angling action as a bonus. Today the ORV Zone seemed like the place to be. Tom %28Captain Steve's%29, Chuck and George had a good morning taking a 25 1/2 inch red drum and 3 bluefish ranging from 25 - 30 inches. Lucky Chucky, Con and Rick V also saw a lot of action. Rick V landed a 16.5 inch flounder and lost 3 good-sized bluefish that bit through mono leader on the way in. Con lost a couple blues the same way. Chuck also had a couple blues rip his mono leader but did manage to land a 34 incher that put up quite a fight as evidenced by all his wet clothes. Leo O, fishing the parking lot area, landed and released a 25 inch rockfish.
With the bluefish biting on bunker the way they are, you might want to stock up on wire leader.
