Participating Chincoteague Island galleries and shops are open from 6 to 10 p.m. with special events including art and craft demonstrations, exhibits, readings and book signings, live music, wine tastings.....and the unexpected.
Tom is always having wine tasting here at the shop. The over the dunes gang took a day off, but they will be out there tomorrow. Thanks to Rick V. who brought us some fresh mozzarella from NJ. The weather looks to be getting better for this upcoming weekend. In the back bay there has been some nice rockfish being caught off of swim baits and eels. Good Luck...Jimmy

The first red hake %28ling%29 was caught today off the surf using bunker.
Wind from the west - fishing's the best - NOT today on Assateague's south beach. Although there were quite a few anglers fishing the surf this morning and this afternoon, there weren't any success stories. The only rockfish caught was a 20 incher that Rick V caught and released in the ORV Zone. JT Bolding caught a clear nose skate he said the water was really dirty. This afternoon and tonight the fishing picked up as Rick and Darlene A. had a good time with a lot of hits. The big blues came in and snapped of a few of their rigs, Darlene caught a 25 inch rockfish, and there were plenty of skates. Pat M. had one keeper rockfish 29' and a 26 inch throwback.
The countdown to liftoff of the first orbital rocket launched from NASA's Wallops Flight Facility range here in more than 10 years will start at 2 a.m. Monday morning. In a best-case scenario everyone is hoping for, the five-hour countdown will culminate at 7 a.m. with a blast into space.
The south wind brought cleaner water and rockfish to the south beach of Assateague. Surf angling at both the parking lot area and the ORV Zone proved productive for small rocks, one keeper rock and an occasional large bluefish. In the morning Rick V caught and released 4 rockfish between 20 and 24 inches while Lucky Chucky landed a 33 inch bluefish. Pat M caught and released 2 short rock %2824 and 26 inches%29 released a 33 inch bluefish and later bagged a nice 31 incher at sunset. In the bay today a few anglers did well swim baits and live eels.
Shane Whealton, Paul Kleckner, and Sawyer Mears
They had one 30 inches, 2 at 38 inches, and one 45 inch 30 pound rockfish using eels.
Reminder:
The Eastern Shore Angler's Club Outing is this Sunday December 10th.
Fishing Assateague's south beach was tough today with chocolate water and a wicked northwest wind. A couple anglers fished the parking lot area while a half dozen or so anglers drove onto the ORV Zone after high tide at 8 AM. ORV anglers bagged a couple sharks and skates but unfortunately only one rockfish, 22 inches long caught on Rick V's rod by the hand of Lucky Chucky. Mr. Tony returned to the beach today after a one week hunting trip in PA and got skunked his first day out. I also got a chance to make it out this evening for about 2 hours and came back with one horn dog%28 spiny dogfish%29. The sunset was nice and a harvest moon was a good end to the day.
