capmike0718-750 Capt. Mike with the Chincoteague View had another good trip with Dad's Scot & Ron and kids Aaron, Nathan, Hannah & Colton with 5 nice flounder from 18 to 23"(4-1/4 lb) they had Monday morning. Hannah had the 23" and another 21"er. It's been a really good flounder bite for this time of the year. There's plenty of croaker, too but most are pretty small. And there's some kings in the inlet and a few spot around, too.

Well the wait is over(if you're the type that is into croaker), and the CROAKER are here. The weather has been perfect with the temps topping out in the 80's and a cool breeze coming off the ocean. There were a good number of keeper flounder caught off the dock at Memorial Park the last few days. The bite at the wreck has been really hot as well, with spadefish, triggerfish, sea bass, and big flounder coming in. For those of you that missed the report a couple days ago, we are now doing Poster Size pictures. It takes a couple days for them to get back, but with the new 18 megapixel camera its a great addition to any angler's collection. I've heard of a heavy Yellowfin bite at the Canyons, but the Offshore report will be much more thorough after today. It'll be a couple beautiful days on the ocean, so even if you have a smaller boat, as long as you have the coordinates to get to the wreck, you should be able to safely get back and forth and land some really nice fish as well. 07112011lititz This is part of the Hummer Clan, patriarch Wayne, his son, Grant and BIL Dave from Lititz, PA with some of Grants kids. They've been visiting the Island for many years. They fished Monday afternoon and on the flood tide we had a pretty good bite that lasted the whole trip, we had a keeper on the 1st and last drift. They rent several units over on East Side and do family dinners for every one most nights. Looks like one will be flounder for all because Wayne had another keeper flounder while in an East side rental boat.

kim17-750 Kim Wilhelm from MD was fishing with Captain Charlie on the Island Queen had this throwback at 17" (ouch) but was really wanting a keeper. Kim has been fishing with us for about six years and is always a pleasure to have our boat. You may have seen her hubby Pres on the website with keepers in the past but unfortunately they only caught throwbacks this time.

BobandAngie-750 Bob and Angie from MD had a keeper a piece fishing with Captain Charlie on the Island Queen on Monday. We had 24 throwbacks and few at the 17" mark. Angie told me she had a 7.5 pounder here back in 1977(the year I graduated High School) in the canal and also how they rented a boat from Capt Bob's and used to fill the coolers with flounder by 11:00 am, ahhh the good ole days!

Looks like the hot spot around the island the last few days has been at the wrecks. There has been a good number of flounder, sea bass, sheepshead, and spadefish caught. I think I can say that the croaker are officially here. They are showing up in large numbers at certain places, but the most consistent place to catch them continues to be near the inlet. There are also kingfish and spot being caught near the inlet, as well as off the surf. The crabbing continues to be excellent around the island. Tight Lines *
