fishing reports

The first picture is from today of David P. with a 4 1/4 pound flounder. Gary Palmiere with a 10 pound spiny dogfish caught 2 days ago off the beach. The surf was a bit slow today with only a few skates being reported. The bay had some decent action on the South Side of Chincoteague. Some Maryland angler filled a cooler with their biggest fish being 24 inches. The flounder are biting finicky so be patient. The water looks to be getting a lot cleaner so better days are ahead. A few black drum are showing up in nets. It's a matter of time before they start biting on the beach, as soon as the water temp. goes upa bit we will see increased action. Tight Lines, Jimmy

Pictured above is Heather Lyons her and Beau caught 8 flounder. Her is the only keeper a 19.5 incher Beau had a few at 18. Nice Job

Hello once again. I had a great time in Florida traveling from Daytona all the way to Fort Lauderdale and ending the trip in Cape Canaveral visiting friends and taking it easy. My best fish was a 26 inch trout using cut mullet while surf fishing Cape Canaveral. The Millersville Dance Team fared well in the National Competition in Daytona ending up in the middle of the pack. Jes and I enjoyed all the warm weather and came back with a tan, while it was snowing around here at Easter. Today there were a few flounder caught at Four Mouths as one boat had 6 keepers. On the beach it was a skate day as Joe Ramirez and crew pulled them out one after another. The weather conditions are getting a little rough, so sputniks might be needed at the beach tomorrow. Earlier in the week there were some nice bluefish on the beach up to 15 pounds. Mullet was the bait of choice on the mullet rig did the trick. It is getting late and there is still some work to be done. We got in some nice Lamiglas surf rods today so come check em out.

Here are some pictures of JT Bolding that were e-mailed to me by Mr. Jack Nold.%28Photos taken by Glen Traver%29 JT taught me and many others how to cast conventional reels in the surf. He is one of the greatest surfcasters and nicest guys you'll ever meet. If you see him on the beach stop and say hi. The great thing about fishing around here is that most anglers are more than happy to share their knowledge. These pictures are amazing you can see the weight barely above the sand as JT is doing a modified pendulum cast.

Jabob Lipton from PA caught his first ever salt water fish a 2.12 oz flounder, aboard the Wonderful One with Capt. Wayne Lewis. Not to many people went out due to the cooler weather. I'm hoping it heats up soon around here. I'm heading to Florida for a week to watch the Millersville Dance Team. Tom will be holding down the shop. Mrs. Lin will be updating the reports while I am away. Jimmy

Stefanos M. from Chincoteague brought in this nice 26 inch 6.5 pound flounder%21

Tom and Lee Irwin from PA pictured above with a 20 inch 3 pound and 19.5 inch 2.4 pound flounder.

Today was a beautiful day on the island. Most fishermen picked up 2 keepers and had a few throwbacks. The best fishing occured in shallows on the edge of the channel on the outgoing tide. There are a lot of crab pots so be aware when drifting Tom lost 2 rigs to crabpots today.

Inshore at Four Mouths John Sippel Jr. and John Sippel III from Glen Arm, Md. Had 2 keepers 19 inches weighing 2 %C2%BD pounds each in only an hour of fishing. They also had a couple of nice ones they lost.

Paul Rippeon and John Rippeon with 2 keeper flounder 19 & 21 inches. Today was a little tough out there. Most anglers went out to Four Mouths where the early action is usually the best. Tomorrow looks to be a better day with the temp getting up around 70. I did not hear of much off the surf not to many people fished there today. Crabbing is picking up as a few people are handlining near the Pony Corral. Tight Lines
