The OTdG Rick battled the crowd at 0500 and stayed the day a good showing but they failed to connect to the big one. They had 8 kings and a bluefish. Not counting the 75 lb ray, about 50 sharks, 20 skates and a seagull that was caught and released. They saw Rob from land a 29" rock this morning. He was the big winner this morning. Overall it was a beautiful day out there. Chris Tenbusch from De had a good day on the surf with king fish, He had 16 keepers tonight and threw back 5. They were hitting on fish bites bloodworm and squid on the king fish rigs with surf balls. He had a lot of double hook ups in a good night of fishing.
Michael Goodenough with a nice rockfish around 24 pounds he landed off the surf this afternoon.
Dave Snyder with a 39 inch 20 pound rockfish, he also had a lot of sharks and even some kingfish.
It's nice to see the island alive again as today started the Summer season. The surf fishing went pretty well with Mike Goodenough and Dave Snyder from Chincoteague both pulled in nice rockfish. There were a few black drum hooked but none sucessfully landed they got off near shore. The kingfish were around in numbers and even a few blues on mullet. In the back bay there was some good success both at Queen Sound and in the Assateague Channel. A few people limited out who came by the shop. The only bad thing was that you had to weed through some skates and sharks to get to the flounder. The Hersh family from Thomasville, PA had a great day with 7 keepers 18.5-22.25 inches. Tonight we got in some breakaway Cannons, they are called the bionic finger used with spinning reels to help you cast out further. It has been really busy so I better wrap it up. see you tomorrow...Jimmy

I got a chance to hit the surf early this morning before work. I fished with the OtDG and both Ricks caught black drum. We had a couple kingfish, Bob D.from Parksley caught a dozen kingfish. There were also some snapper blues in parking lot 4 that were hitting on mullet rigs. The flounder fishing picked up for most people today as many had 4-5 keepers brought in at the end of the day. Today we got in some new goodies for offshore and flounder fishermen. Great Calcutta Sign background Pirate in the Blood. Fishing in the Soul. See you later... Jimmy

It was a fantastic day off the beach once again with plenty of drum brought in. Tonight I got a chance to fish with Rick V. landed another black drum tonight which he released. Doug and I did not hook up any drum, but we did end up with 5 kingfish caught on bloodworms. Even though we were using bigger hooks 7/0. It nice to see that the kingfish are back I had one that weighed 1.6 lbs. We broiled them with old bay, salt, pepper, and olive oil. They tasted great. See you tomorrow Jimmy
