Today was a picturesque day on the beach. The water was clear with light winds from the south west. Many anglers ventured out to try there luck. Jimmy and I hit the beach early this afternoon. Our luck was not so goodwith only a few skates and one ray. We were greated by the OTDG's as they ventured out on the ORV zone. Lucky Chucky lost a good size drum. Leo again kept up his good luck within 10 mins of first cast Leo landed this nice 25 lb black drum. The drum is pictured above. He also had two nice drum spit the hook in the second wash. One time his sinker almost hit his truck%21 Speaking of trucks here's one for the archives. After Jimmy departed my company, I hooked up with a 29 in 6.4 lb blue. I was then talked into riding along with local legend Gunter. We headed out onto the ORV zone and got a few bites I landed two more fair blues. Then a rogue wave caught us by suprise and covered the dry sand under a dodge ram with a 5.7 liter hemi. As we proceeded to try an move it to higher ground Gunter hit the gas and proceeded to dig the truck to china. We dugand dug and dug some more, placed boards and pushed to no avail. It was no other than a ford to the rescue. A kind hearted fisherman Bob and Ruth from PA. They gave it their all but were unable to remove the dodge.... Now more digging.... After an hour or so we summoned to get professional help and called the Assateague island ranger service. They came with a truck which pulled in tandom with Bob and Ruth's ford. Still to no avail the truck was still stranded. We then summoned yet another ranger, who by the way had the day off. His truck came equipped with a winch. After 5 minutes of his arrival the dodge was freed from what everyone was thinking was its grave. Also hindering the removal process of the dodge was the tide that was coming in and slowly engulfing the truck. With the truck pulled to safety we headed home. When we reached the parking lots %28FINALLY%29 we then realized one of the front tires was flat. When it goes bad it really goes bad. Thanks to all who helped with this ordeal. Remember don't get guntered. Always lower air pressures in your tires, drive gently on loose sand, and for pete's sake don't park your truck where it can get engulfed by a rogue wave.
Pictures to be posted of the ordeal tomorrow

Today was another beautiful day on the island. The water was crystal clear at the beach. Mr. Tony stole the show as he beached 2 nice stripers this afternoon. The bluefish have showed up once again saving the day for many. Mixed in were sharks and skates and a few kingfish. In the bay Pierce Alexander from Chincoteague had 7 keepers on his boat and 16 throwbacks. 3 of the fish were over 22 inches. Others caught a lot of fish but many were right under the limit once again.

Rick V. with this 32 pound drum off the beach this afternoon
Leo O. caught this 9 pound rockfish fishing nearby...
After taking the weekend off, the Over the Dune Gang came back to the beach on a fishin mission. Leo started it off with a 31 inch rockfish that he caught on a fishfinder rig with peeler crab. He soon landed another rock that was short at 25 inches and was released. Shortly after the two rockfish were caught, Rick V hooked up with a black drum that put up quite battle. The drum weighed in at 32 lbs and was also caught on peeler with a fishfinder rig. The Gang also caught several kingfish and a giant stingray. BTW-if you're driving on the beach, be careful and make sure you have your shovel. The sand is unusually difficult to maneuver through after the very busy beach traffic weekend. Thanks for the help Rick...
Holly L. caught a 28 pound black drum and Liz C. had one weighing in at 27.5 pounds the pictures will be up tomorrow. My CF card will not work at the house so I have to use the USB cable to upload the photos. Congrats of the fish ladies%21

Tundra Tom from Hebron, MD was the big winner of the day with a 41.5 inch rock weighing 30.5 pounds. Fishing with Sand Spike Steve they also had a lot of dogfish, 1 sandbar shark, perch, and a few mullet. They were continually pulling fish in. Chris from MD had a 42 inch sandbar shark, he was also lucky enough to be given a a 29 inch rockfish by a fellow fisherman who had no place to cook it. I hit the surf tonight for a little catching 1 shark, 1 skate, and 1 kingfish, missed a few bites too. Its always great to get out to the beach after a long weekend at the shop. The OTdG has taken a few days off they will be returning to action soon. Thats it for tonight.

Billy Chesser from Assawoman caught this Black Drum on the bayside, picture courtest of Paul K.
Joe L and Billy H. caught these on Steve's east coast white flounder rigs. Flounder were 19 to 22 inches in length.
There were a few more black drum caught earlier this morning on the North side of Assateague. Kingfish were caught on fishbites. The skates and sharks were also around in numbers. I drove out to the beach tonight and saw a skate almost take a rod into the Ocean. In the back bay there were plenty of flounder caught, the only problem is that most of them were short. The wreck fishing has been producing good number of seabass. In offshore action Donnie Stevens brought the first yellowfin back to Chincoteague, he went out 105 miles and also had another one break off. With the warmer temps the fish are gonna be coming in closer. It's late see you tomorrow
