fishing reports
Today was a great day to be out on the water. There was very little wind and the top of the water was like glass into the early afternoon. We received reports of keeper flounder being caught early on in the morning at Queens sound on Minnows and Squid. There were also a lot of throwback flounder being caught on the drift from the old Daisey's Dockside all the way down to buoy %23 23. Most of the fish were caught on white and chartreuse double rigs with minnows and white Gulp swimming mullet. Tim Gray from Berryville, VA. Stopped in the shop today showing off his nice catch from the early this morning. He caught a 22.5 inch flounder weighing in at 4lbs 10 ozs. Mike and Chris Hanse, from Northeast PA, reported catching 12 flounder but all were throwbacks. The biggest flounder they caught were both 17.5 inches.

John Mathias from Baltimore caught this citation today 27.5 inches 7.12 pounds the other one was 6 pounds. John and Jeffrey Cheuvront caught 6 keepers fishing Queen Sound using squid and minnows. Most of the fish were in the 3.5 pound range. At Memorial Park there was also a nice flounder caught according to my brother Pete. Flounder action was a little slow as the Assateague Channel only produced a few keepers today. Off the surf there was one black drum caught this morning in the ORV zone. Today was a little slow due to the dirty water on the beach. The OTdG took they day off they will be in full force tomorrow. Thats it for tonight time to watch basketball...
Philip and Kristi Asper from Biglerville, PA with 3 nice flounder the largest being 21.5 inches caught in the Assateague Channel. They also had 4 throwbacks in their day of fishing.
In surf action it was pretty slow on this beautiful sunny day. Anglers showed up in numbers and caught mostly sharks and skates. At one point this morning the blues showed up they were around 15 inches. A lot of croakers started showing up in the 7 to 8 inch range. But the mighty black drum proved to be elusive. Make sure to lower your tire pressure to 10-15 as the sand is soft on the ORV zone.
Inshore action most boats brought in around 10 flounder with keepers being in the 1-4 range. The fishing has been a little tough but keep on at it and you will be rewarded.

PS: We have some nice minnows in now%21
Surf fishing went started well today with a 3 foot red drum caught this morning. There were also a few kingfish caught off the surf today, most people were using fishbites artificial bloodworms tipped with quid for them. This evening there was a 48 inch black drum caught off the surf using peeler crab. In the bay there were a few flounder caught mostly using minnows with white mylar seemed to be the doing the best. A lot of smaller flounder are still being caught. The croaker are just starting to move in but they have been small many only around 7 inches. As the water warms up we will see the size get bigger. This evening Jes and I went on a sunset cruise on the Tortuga with Capt. Shawn Giacobbe. It was a good time. The sunset, friends and drinks made it a night to remember as the Chincoteague sunset went down right before our eyes. Make sure when you come to Chincoteague, you ride the Tortuga on the bay for a fun-filled evening of sight seeing, reminiscing and good times. Come to the shop to book fishing trips and nature tours. It's getting late see you tomorrow
