Now back to fishing off the surf blues, kings, spot, and some pompano. There a 5 foot hammerhead shark also caught this morning. In the bay the croaker pick continues it was busier on croaker Thursday more than today but fish do cycle. The wrecks are still productive. We will have some more photos and info for this weekend. Feel free to e-mail fishing pictures and stories to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
We look forward to helping you with all your fishing crabbing and beach needs!
Fritz and Freddie Fischer from Westminster Md. Caught 16 flounder with 7 keepers fishing the boxcars biggest being 22 inches and they also saw some mahi mahi while flounder fishing.
The crew of the Reel Screamer, from left Bob, Bryan, Todd and Captain Rob Pellicot had 12 keepers on the railcars. Most all were caught before lunch and then the wind picked up and the fishing dropped off. Settle Bob.
Robert Sparks and Jim Hayes deep dropped for blueline tilefish aboard Terpheels lll with Capt Rob Sparks with 3 citations!
Happy fishing at the wrecks today: houndsfish, triggerfish, blues, sea bass, flounders and capped off with a 7 lbs 4oz citation flounder. Ted Lambert was the lucky one on the other end of the rod. Most unusual catch was a Blue Runnner. Mark and Zac Majerus had a great time as well. The new reel from Jimmy worked like a charm.
Some of our special workers packing some floats 200 bags packed in no time, they got fed well free gum and were good dogsitters too.
Check out our new can coozies Striper Founder and Tuna !
Below there is a link to the FWS planning seminar. I think it would be the best interest to vote or to write in for plan B with a few exceptions that being opening the OSV to drive on closer to the CG station until June 15 or whenever the hatchlings fletch instead of
OSV use would be permitted for fishing only. The OSV zone would be expanded from C dike to Toms Cove from approximately September 1 to March 14. For the rest of the time, the ORV zone would be closed to all public access. A new ORV beach parking area south of C dike would be accessible year-round for fishing. and making sure the new ORV beach area south of C dike could be extended to at least the old ORV zone. Please e-mail all your comments to

This is just a "rough draft" a prilimenary measurement which we are putting our thoughts suggestions and concerns out there for the planning commision to consider and to take into consideration and help mold the final plan. Please we urge you to get involved there will be some controversy and all the alternatives were put in there for flexibility. It looks like Alternative B would be best plan with a few adjustments please look over all four and write comments and concerns. The general meeting below is a must

Don’t forget about the Aug 22 meetings at the refuge and community center that present the 4 draft alternatives for the VA side!
Link to the newsletter with the 4 draft alternatives:
Each alternative has a different plan for beach parking and ORV uses. Alternative D has no ORV use! Alternative B looks decent but the hook could be declared a wilderness zone, we have to make sure that wouldn’t restrict ORV access.Proposals have been made that could drastically reduce or even
eliminate OSV surf fishing within the National Seashore.
We will not let the government tell its people what we can, and cannot do on OUR PUBLIC BEACHES. We are 100% pro conservation, and we respect all of our representatives in office, but we have to make a stand when the government doesn't respect the peoples interests. I urge everyone to attend these meeting and email/call/write a letter to your congressman. And if they don't feel the same way about the situation as you, then next election lets make a change that is in the best interest of the people. We thank everyone for our continued support. Please stay active on this topic. It is not only important to Chincoteague Island, but the whole eastern shore & the outer banks. *****Thank you *****

Come to as many as you can. But I believe there is strength in numbers and at least at one meeting we should fill the room with fishermen/OSV users. If we can put a LARGE number of very visable fishermen in a room it will make an impact.
I suggest that we all should be at the 08/18/2011 Ocean Pines meeting. The 6:00 start will make it easier for working men to be there.
Wear fishermen's clothing. Hats and T-shirts that indicate who you are. We want to be visable and identifiable as fishermen/OSV users.
Let's try to sit togeter en masse, not scattered around the room. If possible let's sit as near to the front as possible. Make them see us and look at us as each "idea" comes out of their mouth. It's no time for hiding in the back corner.
PLEASE BE THERE! -Thanks for forwarding me this e-mail Mr. Jim please try to attend these meetings!
It has been another beautiful week with weather, fishing, and fun here on the island. The croaker bite is still getting better with a few more bigger ones being caught. At the wrecks the usual suspects of triggerfish, spadefish, sea bass, withsome flounder and even mahi-mahi are being caught. The surf has been a good pick of blues, spot, and kingfish too. We have in big live minnows and fresh bait too. Thats the report for now Tight Lines.
Chris Blauch from Harrisonburg, Va with a White Marlin fishing with Capt. Perry Romig aboard “Topless”
MICHELLE PAVLIK FROM PA WITH A NICE KEEPER FLOUNDER !
The surf has been hitting a little more consistently with more snapper bluefish being caught using cut bait. A great rig for these blues are finger mullet rigs with the hook on the back of the rig since bluefish hit their prey from the back. Along with the blues the spots are still doing well with bloodworms and fishbites and also some kingfish too. If you need any information for the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge call 757-336-6122. In the back bay we've seen some more croakers show up but still on the smaller size. There are still plenty of flounder around but you have to work a little tougher to put some in the box in the bay at this time. Snapper blues and kingfish have also been caught at the mouth of the inlet. We carry the largest assortment of fresh and frozen bait along witht he biggest selection of terminal tackle stop on by and let us help you get on the fish. Thats the Reprt for now Tight Lines!
Todd Schnell and Family from PA had a great day fishing with Capt. John Chenault aboard the “ “. Eleven year old Jillian especially had a great time catching the first, most, and biggest fish of the trip.
Capt. John with Daryl and Craig(pictured) and did well today on the wrecks catching flounder mahi and some seabass jigging on the wrecks!
Jacob Rabuck aboard the Island Ho with a 50 pound yellowfin
Happy Birthday Izid we had a great Birthday Party a special thanks to the Chincoteague Volunteer Volunteer Dept. for bringing the firetruck to the party.
Kenny Cromwell from Keedysville Md had a good day offshore with a white marlin release and 26 pound citation dolphin fishing with Dale Price, Josh Hoy, and Dave Hoy in a fun day of fishing. Fish were caught on skirted ballyhoo on the outside lines!
In the surf anglers can expect to catch kingfish, spot, and bluefish in the morning afternoon and evening the bite stayed consistent. “RR” a local angler caught a bunch of spot and kingfish. We would like a lot of people to go on the Off Road Vehicle Zone, it has opened up to the Coast Guard Station which is a good run of the beach. The flounder fishing continues to be sure and steady around here, croaker fishing is still pretty slow but there have been some signs of improvement. We are having some anglers going out to the deep blue tomorrow so I'll have a more up to date offshore report. That's the report for now Tight Lines!
Kelly, Gary, and Levi Boyd from Morgantown, West Virginia had a good day of fishing south of Queens Sound bridge with one 23 ½ inch keeper flounder.
Here is two nice flounder caught Wednesday in the back bay.
