Today the ORV Zone was reopened by CNWR officials, making the south end of ths island accessible. Anglers who ventured down the beach in their vehicles found some major changes in the contour of the shoreline. Much of the island just north of the Coast Guard station was flattened by the most recent storm washing away some of the sand dunes that had existed. The narrow pathway just north the Station where the dunes jut out to the sea has become impossible to negotiate at high tide and difficult at other times.

It seemed that most anglers, of which there were very few, fished the area adjacent to the parking lots this morning and this afternoon. Fishing was relatively slow but a couple rockfish were hauled in. Con of MD brought in a 15" baby rock and a shark that he managed to catch by the tail. Rick V had several hits and landed and released a 26" rock caught on chunked bunker.

Rumor has it that ranger Doug is going to make his surf fishing debut tomorrow.
Good luck everyone :%29

Shane and Paul did well using eels with a 38 inch and 42 inch rock. Nice Job%21
